Roger Viehweg  1940 - 2022

Roger ViehwegRoger H. Viehweg, age 81, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at his home. He was born in Litchfield, Illinois on October 22, 1940 to Roleen L. (Wohlers) and Harold E. Viehweg. He was a 1958 graduate from Fenger High School. On November 28, 1959, he married Loraine Marlene Eisentraut in Chicago.

For many years, he owned and managed Rainbow Video in Calumet City, Illinois with his wife. Roger was a past Boy Scout Leader for Troop #320 in Riverdale, Illinois. He guided many young men in attaining their Eagle award, including his four sons. In his later years, he supported local food pantries as a volunteer and enjoyed planning and cooking meals as well as playing card games.

Roger is survived by his children, Stephan Viehweg (Jan) of Greenfield, Toben Viehweg (Tracie) of Frankfort, IL, Jaime Viehweg (Emily) of Naperville, IL, and Wayne Viehweg (Silke) of Wadsworth, IL; grandchildren, Bryce, Blaire, Tara, Zachary, Rachel, Amber and Cody; great-grandchildren, Emma, James, Mason and Mady; and brother, William Viehweg of Mount Olive, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loraine; and sister, Sharon Anderson.

A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held on a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local food pantry or to the Hancock County Community Foundation, 312 E Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. Friends may share a memory or condolence at www.erleweinmortuary.com.
