Robert McFadden

Robert H. McFadden - 1941 - 2018

Robert “Bob” Hamilton McFadden, 77, passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL after a long illness.

Bob was born in Sailor Springs, IL on January 18, 1941 to Robert and Marguerita McFadden.  He graduated from Fenger High School in January 1959. In April 1959 he enlisted in the US Army.  He served in the 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels” in Fort Hood, Texas.  He was a lifetime member of the AmVets and a former member and administrator for the Moose Lodge.

Mr. McFadden moved from Chicago, IL to Miami, FL in 1973.  He met Donna at Good Shepherd Luther Church in North Miami in 1975 where they taught a Sunday School class for mentally challenged children.  They were married on April 2, 1976.  Bob was a Production Supervisor for Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals and retired in 1996, after which he helped Donna run their family owned insurance agency and also worked as the administrator of the Moose Lodge in Davie and Hollywood, FL.

In 2006, they moved from Miami to Chiefland, FL.  Bob joined the Levy County Citizens on Patrol (COP) in 2006.  In 2010 he became the director of the COP’s and was promoted to rank of Captain.  While a volunteer, Bob logged well over 10,000 hours of service to the citizens of Levy County.  Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling and sports.  He loved to listen to old time radio programs, watch black and white westerns, and root on his favorite Miami Hurricanes.

Bob is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Donna, his children, Michael McFadden of Arizona, Sarah McFadden and Marybeth (Mike) Cento; his grandchildren, Logan Martin, Katherine Martin, and Tyler Cento all of Chiefland; his brother Bill (Jan) McFadden of Chicago, IL, sister Phyllis Castronovo of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sister-in-law Marilyn (Tony) Papale and mother-in-law, Virginia Papale all of Sunrise, FL; along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Peggy McFadden and father-in-law, Albert Papale.

Bob was a member of our church high school youth group.  I remember our group's progressive dinners.  One of the stops was at his house.  Rest in peace, Bob.

My sincere sympathy to Robert's wife Donna and his family. Robert was a someone a classmate we could all call a friend.

Rosalie Poledziewski (Daley)

I remember Bob very well from West Pullman School.  I never saw him in Fenger, but later in life he got in

touch with me and Liz Tupycia Gatto.  My husband Rog, Liz & I met Bob & Donna at the Holiday Inn when 

they came in for Bob's 60th reunion.  We had a great visit with many laughs and "catching up" on our lives.

My most sincere sympathy to Donna and family, Bob was a great guy and will be truly missed!
