Carol Drenth Thomson 1940 - 2019
Carol June Thomson, age 78, of Bloomington, Illinois passed away following a short battle with leukemia on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at 3:48 a.m. at her residence. She was born June 28, 1940 in Chicago to John and Sally (Hoekstra) Drenth. She married Frank Thomson on June 23, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away Jan. 29, 2017 in Bloomington.
Survivors include three children: June (Roy) Becker of Palatine, IL, Julie (Brad) Burns of Bloomington, Heather (Bob) Bronkhorst of Bloomington, eight grandchildren: Jonathan Becker, Jeremy Becker, Joshua Burns, Matthew Burns, Jessica Burns, Rachel Bronkhorst, David Bronkhorst, and Rebecca Bronkhorst. She is also survived by two sisters: Nancy (Craig) Paul of Highland, IN, Sally (Jim) Housman of Verona, WI, and two brothers: Jay (Sandy) Drenth of Mokena, IL, and Mark (Judy) Drenth of Dyer, IN. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Bill (Gloria) Thomson of Woodstock, IL and sister-in-law Sandy (Ron) Conrad of Bloomington, IL.
Carol worked for Dist. 157 in Calumet City, Illinois for 25 years retiring in 2000. Following retirement she worked at Westminster Village/ Martin Health Care for 8 years as the assistant to the activity director. She was a member of Eastview Christian Church in Bloomington, a BSF member for 16 years and leader for 6 years, and a member and officer of the PEO-AW Chapter.
Carol was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend with an infectious sense of humor and wonderful demeanor. She was adored by everyone who had the privilege of spending time with her. She remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life and was looking forward to spending eternity with her God and reuniting in heaven with her husband of 55 years.
