Agree with all the accolades bestowed upon Al. He was exceptional in so many ways and impressed me when we first crossed paths in the 4th grade at Pullman elementary school. RIP ❤️❤️❤️

MY FIRST DAY AT FENGER WAS FILLED WITH ANXIETY.  WHEN I WALKED INTO MY HOME ROOM I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE FROM MY GRAMMAR SCHOOL AND WHERE TO SIT.  AT THE BACK OF THE ROOM WERE SAL AND AL SLAPPING THEIR  LAPS SAYING ''SIT HERE''.  THEY SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME.  BUT I GOT TO KNOW BOTH OF THEM.  IN TIME I LEARNED THAT TO BE IN AL'S COMPANY WAS TO HAVE FUN AND TO DANCE WITH HIM WAS A JOY.  I ALONG WITH MANY WILL MISS AL.  HE WAS ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS.                   SHELLEY RADIUS NAVARETTE

I was so sad to see that Al has left us. I got reacquainted with Al when we had grade school (Pullman) reunions. So much fun! My deepest sympathy to Sally and the family at this sad time. Remember that Al will be watching over you always.  Nancy Stewart Kalagian.

While our paths rarely crossed during our days at Fenger, I feel that I really got to know Al about 1-year ago. I’ll explain.

About a year ago, our homeowner’s association was seeking landscape proposals.  Through that process I met Michael Busin, who I discovered was Al’s son. Upon a short introduction, I learned that Al had recently experienced a series of life-threatening heart and other medical complications. Mike told me that there were some of Al’s doctors who had all but gave up on him. However, Al’s family refused to give up, and was determined to do whatever it took to get him through his ordeal. It was a long-shot but it worked and Al recovered and started on his rehabilitation process. In fact, Mike told me that Al and Sally were looking forward to attending the 60th Class Reunion! Mike was sure that Al’s determination to attend the 60th reunion played a large part with his recovery. He achieved his goal, and we were all glad to see them again, especially his Pullman "groupees".

It was the love that his son Mike, and his family, demonstrated and shared for their father that told me volumes about our classmate! He will be missed and remembered.

May God rest his soul and give peace to all that he touched.

So very sorry to know that Al passed away.  I don't remember a time when he wasn't in my life; Pullman School, Fenger High, visiting him at Chicago Al's and hearing stories from sister, Elda of their good times making sopressa in Reno Zenere's Pullman basement  he will be missed but never forgotten.  Rest In Peace dear friend.

When Al Busin walked into our fourth grade classroom at Pullman School wearing pantaloons (he had just returned from Italy where he lived for a couple of years), all the little girls immediately fell in love with him. He was such a great guy and good friend, that we all maintained that fondness for him throughout his life. He will be terribly missed-especially his sense of humor. We will toast him at the 80th birthday party-God willing!
